Brief Biography

Sean Hottois is a new media practitioner whose creative work takes a sardonically lighthearted stance on the human condition, as seen through the lens of technology. He creates interactive experiences using analog, digital, and alternative processes that employ a wide array of materials and techniques. These techniques are primarily digital and include: video game design, 3D modeling, web design, internet connectivity, audio manipulation, motion control, sensor input, and 3D printed objects.

Those interactive experiences manifest as performative sculptures or three-dimensional presentations that play the role of a surrogate interlocutor. They encourage the viewer to become an active participant in exploring and generating a complete experience. His work reflects an interaction or narrative on any number of peripheral human qualities. They are ranging from the hidden excesses of tourist experiences to subjective robotic creature-like implementations of phobia. They are somewhat possibly enchanted objects that imply and belie the humor of an increasingly technology-dependent human condition.

He has exhibited regionally, nationally & internationally in, but not exclusively in: South Bend, Grand Rapids, Chicago, Indianapolis, Louisville, Minneapolis, Salt Lake City, Scottsdale, & Abu Dhabi (U.A.E.).
