Policies:

Attendance: Students are expected to attend all classes. In addition to the normal lecture material, information regarding assignments, due dates, explanation and clarification of assignments, and material that is not covered in the assigned texts will typically be presented during each lecture. If you miss a class for any reason, it is your responsibility to become familiar with the material covered and to obtain missed handouts and notes. Perfect attendance for the semester adds up to 3% bonus points to your final grade. More than 2 absences will result in losing points in attendance. Being excessively tardy for class or leaving class early counts as an absence. No electronic device is allowed to use in classroom unless permitted.

Assignment: Each assignment must be turned in by the start of class on the date that it is due. 10 minutes grace period will be given. After that, an assignment is considered late. Late submission will be handled as follows:

After class has started of the due date, but by the midnight (12:00am) on the due date:

-10%

After midnight of the due date, but by the third day after the due date:

-20%

After midnight of the third day after  the due date:

You lose all the points for that assignment!

Exams/quizzes make-ups: If an exam/quiz is missed due to extenuating circumstances then you must notify me as soon as possible. The circumstances must be documented by you and must be excusable in order to reschedule a exam/quiz.

Policy on Incompletes: The granting of an Incomplete in this course is highly discouraged. Thus, it will be done only in very rare cases and will conform fully to the college policy. Keep up with the course and notify the instructor promptly of any problems. You will receive more help if you act early.

Use of cell phones, notebook computers and other electronic devices: During lectures and labs all cell phones and portable electronic devices must be turned off or put in “silent” mode. The use of computers and phones of any kind during lectures is not allowed unless special permission has been granted by the Instructor.

Use of social networking sites and non-course related applications: Lab time is to be used to complete lab assignments and projects for this course. While it is acceptable for students to do personal tasks prior to the start of lab, once lab starts students may not visit Facebook, Twitter or other such sites nor are they allowed to check, read, write or send Email or instant messages. Students who finish their course work early may leave the lab, but are not authorized to do other tasks. The campus has many open labs that can be used for such purposes.

Academic Integrity: All students enrolled in this course are expected to complete course work responsibilities with fairness and honesty. Scholastic dishonesty includes cheating and plagiarizing on assignments or examinations. Please read all the related issues at http://www.iusb.edu/~judicial/. Within this course, the scholastic dishonesty will result in a grade of zero for the first infraction and a grade of "F" for the second infraction.

Assistance: If you need assistance, see me as soon as possible. Either see me before or after class, during lab, at office hours, or make an appointment to meet with me. E-mail is also an excellent way to get hold of me, if you are having trouble or if something comes up. I enjoy helping students with their assignments, so don’t be afraid to ask for help.
