Course description:
C101 is a course designed to give an introduction to computer science and programming. The course assumes no previous experience with computers, but some mathematics background is needed. Students not familiar with basic algebra will be at a disadvantage. C++ is the programming language that is used for assignments.

Grades:

If you cannot make it to class on a test day, be sure to make arrangements with me before the test. If prior arrangements have not been made, no credit will be given for missed tests. You cannot pass the class if you miss the final exam.

Homework assignments will be posted on the web site and they must be turned in by email. They are due at midnight of the due date. Lab assignments can be turned in up to one week after the lab.

Homework turned in one class period early receives 2 extra points, on time no extra points, up to one week late loses 25% of the points, 50% of the points up to two weeks late, and no homework accepted after two weeks from the due date.

For 5 consecutive attended classes you win 2 extra credit points. For 3 consecutive missed classes you lose 2 points. If you leave the class early without warning me before the class, or if you miss one of the 2 class hours, you do not get credit for that class. You can get up to 3 points for active participation in class.
