Course description: The use of computers in everyday activities. How computers work; use of packaged programs for word processing, spreadsheets, file management, communications, graphics, etc. Lecture and laboratory. Course is designed for people with little or no computer experience. This course is not intended for computer science majors.

Course objectives: Upon completing this course, students will be able to

  1. discuss the history and impacts of technology on our society, lives and career,
  2. identify computer hardware parts and their roles in a computer,
  3. find and use suitable software for different purposes, also describe how software works
  4. utilize resources on the Web in a safe and legal way,
  5. describe how networks work and how to set up your home network,
  6. apply security principles to protect personal computers and data,
  7. proficiently use Microsoft Office 2016.
